90s Windbreaker Fashion Made Fashionable With Trench Coat

by tavian April 6, 2022
written by tavian

A classic 90s windbreaker in block colors is making a big comeback. A white tee tucked into a high-waisted denim short or dad-fit jeans is an easy way to relive the sporty style of the era, and a colorful windbreaker over it will be the perfect complement to any outfit. For a more ’90s vibe, throw on a bandana – a defining feature of the gang-culture of the time – for an extra punk edge.

An early-to-mid 1990s goth look was also popular. This was the style of electronic musician Das Ich, and it influenced the look of black, sexy girls. A popular era was the ’80s, with a variety of hip-hop, punk, and glam rock musicians. Women’s go-go boots and side gusset pants became popular, while the block-heeled sneakers were popular from 1995 to 2001.

A similar look was seen on men’s clothing. While the windbreaker was not fashionable for everyday wear, it was a fashionable way to stay warm during hot summers. The flannel shirt was a popular choice for men and was often worn with a button-down shirt and a pair of trousers. The 1990s era saw a number of trends for men as well. During this time, flannel shirts grew in popularity among skaters, grunge bands, and urban millennials. The era also saw a revival of the preppy look, with khaki chinos and pants untucked.

The 1990s saw the emergence of neon colors in mainstream fashion. Dark colors were associated with the skater and grunge subcultures, but these bright shades were an attempt to replace them. The 90s also saw the emergence of high-waisted trousers and turtle-neck sweaters. Other trends included the tight-fitted pants and the turtle-neck sweater. While the 80s saw the ’90s’ return, it didn’t last long.

During the 1990s, the flannel shirt was an essential part of ’90s street fashion. The flannel shirt was padded and loose-fitting. The men wore a patterned wool sweater and a turtleneck underneath, and paired it with acid wash jeans and grey sweatpants. The accessories included a horn of life pendant, a hat, and a pair of fingerless gloves.

As the ’90s dwindled into the ’00s, women’s fashion had also changed. Contrary to the 1970s, flannel and cotton clothing were the mainstays of ’90s street fashion. The popular colors in the 90s included navy blue, dark blue, and red. In addition to the flannel, the men wore side gusset shoes and go-go boots.

The 90s were also marked by a new generation of footwear. In addition to windbreakers, hoodies, and t-shirts, men’s and women’s shoes were made of suede, block heels, and boxy fit. By the mid-1990s, hipster belts and earring-like earrings were all popular. The 1990s also saw the rise of hip-hop and ‘grunge’ music.

Flannel shirts first became popular in the US in 1991. They were most popular among wealthy young men and were associated with the ‘punk’ and grunge movements. During the ’90s, men wore flannel shirts that were loose-fitting and padded. They were often paired with patterned wool sweaters with turtlenecks underneath. Old navy and Gap brands were also popular in the ’90s.

During the 1990s, flannel shirts became popular in the US and Australia. They were associated with the grunge and skater subcultures, and were very popular among young men. They were often layered under a t-shirt or other casual top. This style of clothing is referred to as “flannel” shirts. They are also a type of jackets.

A black and pink vintage windbreaker is a great combination with light blue jeans and white sneakers. For a sexier look, wear an oversized vintage windbreaker with a grey t-shirt and white denim mini shorts. A pair of low-top white sneakers completes the look. A classic 90s windbreaker can be teamed with a pair of skinny jeans and Converse sneakers to create an instant retro vibe.

The ’90s saw a return to minimalist clothing. This was in contrast to the elaborate fashions of the 1980s. Body piercings and tattoos were also popular. The ’90s also saw a dramatic change in the fashion world. The ’90s were the ‘Golden Age of hip-hop. And while the ’90s saw a return to sporty clothing, this decade was characterized by a return to more classic styles.

Four Factors To Consider Before Buying A Pressure Washer

by tavian March 20, 2022
written by tavian

The pressure washer technology has advanced tremendously over the years. The advancement has paved the way for the machine’s high efficiency and durability levels. For example, the latest motor innovation allows the machine to be so powerful that cleaning stubborn dirt is easy.

Furthermore, a pressure washing machine is a must-have for every business or home. The critical point to consider is that if you buy the wrong one, you may not enjoy its benefits. However, the right machine can make your cleaning procedures efficient. Below are factors to consider before buying a pressure washing machine.

1. The type of pressure washer

Generally, there are two primary pressure washing machines. They include gas pressure washing machines and electric pressure washing machines. The gas pressure washers usually come with wheels that ensure portability. It means that you can carry the devices wherever you want to. The only limitation is that they need proper and regular maintenance to ensure efficiency and durability.

The electric-powered devices are relatively powerful. Their best merit is that they are very quiet, portable, versatile, and low maintenance. The only limitation is that you can only use it in places with a power cord.

Thus, before buying your washer, you have to decide whether you want an electric-powered one or a gas-powered one. Furthermore, weighing in the merits and demerits can help you decide.

2. The life expectancy of the pump

The life expectancy of a pressure washer should be one of the top things you need to consider. Life expectancy refers to the number of hours the pump can work per dollar spent during the machine’s life.

If you want the machine for the home cleaning process, you will probably spend only 50 hours in one year. Therefore, ensure to buy one that has a rate of 500 hours. The 500 hours means that the machine can last up to 10 years with proper maintenance.

The best rate should be 2000 hours and above if you want the machine for commercial purposes. The only consideration is that the better machine maintenance, the higher its life expectancy.

3. The horsepower of the pressure washer

The machine’s horsepower refers to the amount of power your motor or engine needs for cleaning a surface. The higher the horsepower, the higher the volumes or pressure. Generally, large engines have higher horsepower, hence more powerful. The more powerful a machine is, the quicker the cleaning job. The opposite is also true. Low horsepower means slow cleaning processes. Thus, the type of washer you pick should depend on your needs.

4. The pounds per square inch present in a pressure washer

Generally, in the market, you will find that most machines have a PSI of 1000 and above. The PSI determines the amount of pressure you may need for cleaning. The PSI you choose should coordinate with your cleaning needs.

Conclusion

The type of pressure washer you pick should match your needs and applications. For instance, if you want one for commercial purposes, you should consider one with 2000 hours and above life expectance. Furthermore, other factors such as horsepower, PSI, and type should also matter.

More Destinations Are Requiring Proof of Vaccination. Here’s the Latest.

by tavian October 20, 2021
written by tavian
more-destinations-are-requiring-proof-of-vaccination-here’s-the-latest.

Destinations around the U.S. and the world are now requiring proof of vaccination for entry to indoor venues, such as museums, restaurants, bars, and nightclubs, as well as places where large groups of people are gathering outdoors, e.g., concert venues and stadiums.

In destinations without federal mandates, individual provinces and cities have taken the matter into their own hands, issuing mandates for being vaccinated and/or testing negative before allowing entry to indoor establishments. In tandem, we’re seeing the launch (and use) of digital health passports to support these mandates.

As this trend only continues to grow, I’ve taken a closer look at how digital health passports work, the destinations that are adopting these policies, what traveler sentiment towards health passports looks like, plus how to keep up with changing travel requirements, below.

How does a digital health passport work?

A digital health passport (also called a health pass, vaccine passport, or COVID vaccine passport) provides a means to store your vaccination and COVID-19 test result information online and share it electronically with necessary parties, such as when you’re dining indoors, attending an event, or traveling.

Similar to other third party applications, a digital health passport stores your data only once within that application, and then verification is provided or displayed to outside parties in a way (e.g., via QR code) so that others don’t receive and store your health data, which could make it more vulnerable.

Supplemental reading: What Travelers Need to Know About Digital Health Passports

What destinations require proof of vaccination?

Exactly how you present this information, when, and where all vary based on the destination. Here’s a closer look at some of the destinations that currently require the use of a health passport—for locals and visitors alike. (Note: This isn’t a comprehensive list, and I expect it to evolve over time.)

France

France now requires all citizens and tourists to present proof of vaccination or a negative COVID-19 test result in order to access cafes, restaurants, bars, museums, theaters, sports events, some shopping centers, train travel, and more.

Venues accept both the “Pass Sanitaire” (digital health pass) and a paper vaccination card from patrons. You can read more about how to get a French Health Pass here.

Italy

Like France, Italy requires a “Bel Paese” (or, Green Pass)—proof of vaccination and/or a negative test result—for indoor dining and entry to museums, theaters, gyms, and more.

To obtain the Green Pass, you must show you’ve received at least one dose of a COVID-19 vaccine (one approved for use in the European Union), recovered from COVID-19 in the past six months, or a negative test result from within the last 48 hours.

New York, New York

In August, New York City mayor Bill de Blasio announced the “Key to NYC Pass”—a policy that will require customers and employees of indoor establishments to show proof of vaccination for entry. Establishments include bars and restaurants, gyms and fitness centers, as well as entertainment venues.

Earlier in the year, New York state launched a digital health passport called the Excelsior Pass. NYC establishments will accept the Excelsior Pass, a city-issued pass, or a person’s vaccination card as proof of vaccination.

Enforcement of the policy begins September 13, 2021.

Tip: You can find airline-recommended apps for the destinations you’re traveling to, including those that show proof of vaccination or a negative test result, in TripIt’s COVID-19 guidance feature.

New Orleans, Louisiana

As of August 16, 2021, the city of New Orleans requires proof of vaccination or a negative COVID-19 test to enter bars, restaurants, breweries, gyms, fitness centers, indoor sports complexes and stadiums, as well as indoor entertainment facilities, such as bowling alleys and casinos.

The state of Louisiana’s LA Wallet app now includes the ability to store your COVID-19 vaccination information. People can use the app to show proof of vaccination or a negative test; an original, digital photo, or photocopy of their vaccination card; or an official vaccine record issued by an approved entity.

Quebec, Canada

As of September 1, 2021, Quebecers (and those visiting the destination) must show proof of vaccination to enter establishments like bars, restaurants, and sports venues.

The Canadian province has launched its own version of a digital health passport, the VaxiCode app. If you’re planning to visit Quebec, you’re not necessarily required to download the app. You can also provide proof of vaccination with your vaccination card as well as proof of identity (with an address outside Quebec) to gain access to the places where you would otherwise need the digital health passport.

San Francisco, California

Similar to the above destinations, the city of San Francisco has mandated proof of vaccination for entry to bars, restaurants, nightclubs, gyms, large indoor events, and any business (or event) serving food or drinks indoors.

Unlike some of the above destinations, you cannot provide a negative COVID-19 test instead of your vaccination information. You must prove that you are fully vaccinated.

The city has a list of approved apps, including CLEAR HealthPass and CommonPass, that people can use to upload and safeguard their vaccine credentials. CDC-issued vaccination cards are also accepted (both in physical and photographed form).

Are travelers willing to use a digital health passport to provide proof of vaccination?

Survey data released by TripIt in August showed that 84% of respondents would use a digital health passport, regardless of how they felt about it. Of those respondents, 49% loved the idea of a digital health passport, 18% liked the idea, and 16% disliked the idea—but would still use one. Just 16% of respondents said they hated the idea of a digital health passport and would not use one.

This sentiment remained mostly consistent with data TripIt released in March. At that time, 81% of travelers said the prospect of a digital health passport appealed to them and that they’d be willing to use one if it meant they could travel freely.

What else can travelers expect traveling during COVID-19?

In addition to requiring proof of vaccination, some destinations are setting an expiration date on vaccine validity. As of publication, Austria and Croatia have introduced new rules that limit the length of validity of vaccines to 270 days. You can still travel to both countries if you’re past the limitation, but will instead be required to show a negative test result (for now).

As travel requirements and guidelines continue to evolve, it’s critical to stay up to date on what your destination requires ahead of your trip. Consult the TripIt app for myriad resources, including the COVID-19 guidance feature for vaccination-related requirements and information, to always have the latest information you need for your trip.

If you watch TV, I’m sure you’ve seen at least one of these products advertised.

My mother in law loves her Dump Meals, by Cathy Mitchell, Crock Pot Cookbook.  She has been making meals from this cookbook for the last week.  They are all delicious, and the entire family can enjoy them.  Not to take away from Cathy’s other two amazing cookbooks, but this one has it all.  This Crock Pot Cookbook has delicious recipes made in just 5 ingredients or less.  You really need to check out this book.  My mother in law saw it, ast the store, not too long ago.  However, we got ours from the website above.

Colorama, I gave to my daughter.  She loves that there is a coloring book that has fun shapes to color.  She said she misses the days of being able to color, now she has the chance again.  Colorama comes with 2 sided, colored pencils.  And, they are great to color with.  Sarah is having so much fun.  I snuck, and colored a page, she’s gonna be mad.  However, it was so relaxing, and no worries as I was coloring.  Just focusing on coloring.  It took my mind off of a lot.  I have Panic Disorder, and this actually helped me to control a Panic Attack.  Anyone that has panic issues, should get this book, seriously.

Now, let’s talk about this amazing Pet Bed.  It’s got Memory Foam.  It’s good enough for me to sleep on.  If it weren’t a pet bed, I would be using it.  My Jade (half Husky/half German Shepard) loves her new bed.  She sleeps on it at the foot of my bed, and she’s no longer on top of me.  This is a great prize for Jade.  She’s been such a good dog.  I love how big it is, it fits my big dog.  Don’t get me wrong, you could use it for your little dog too.  It’s just nice to have it for my Jade.

Here’s the features:

  • The Memory Foam Pet Bed from Therapedic contours to the shape of your puppy’s body

10 Pro Tips for Enjoying Life With Kids at the Beach

by tavian September 27, 2019
written by tavian
10-pro-tips-for-enjoying-life-with-kids-at-the-beach

A total of 340,754,691 people visited the beach in the span of a single year. As parents, spending the day at the beach can sound like a great way to spend time as a family. With little ones, however, it might not feel so relaxing.

A little planning can go a long way! Here are 10 tips that can simplify your visit to the beach. With these tips, spending time with kids at the beach can feel as relaxing as it seems.

Take the stress out of the trip! Keep reading to learn how to have fun with your little ones in the sand with this helpful guide.

  1. Time It Right

Timing your trip can make or break your day.

Consider getting your kids up early and ending your beach trip with an early lunch. Otherwise, go after nap time in the late afternoon. Spending long hours at the beach during the middle of the day, however, means scorching heat.

Instead, plan your trip based on your child’s usual schedule.

When do they usually get tired? You might want to plan the trip before nap time. That way, your child exhausts themselves and falls asleep as soon as you get home.

Once you determine what time you want to go, start packing accordingly.

If you plan on staying for an early lunch, pack sandwiches. Otherwise, you’ll only need light snacks and beverages.

Here’s an example beach trip packing list that can help you pack like a pro:

  • Multiple bottles of sunscreen
  • Water bottles
  • Baby wipes
  • Towels for each person
  • A change of clothes
  • A portable potty
  • Antibacterial hand wipes
  • Beach hats, sunglasses, and cover-ups
  • Small bills (for concessions!)
  • A mini first-aid kit
  • Talc-free baby powder (to remove sand from the skin)
  • Zip-up bags to store wet bathing suits in

Planning beforehand can make spending time with your kids at the beach a lot less stressful.

  1. Make Some Shade

The beach probably won’t offer many options for natural shade. Instead, make your own! You can bring a giant umbrella or use a beach shelter to give your kids a break from the sun.

Make sure to add a giant umbrella to your beach vacation packing list!

Sunshine helps the body produce vitamin D, which helps build strong bones. Vitamin D is also responsible for encouraging weight loss, reducing the risk of depression, and boosting your immunity.

Moderate amounts of sunlight can also:

  • Help prevent ovarian, prostate, pancreatic, and colon cancer
  • Potentially treat rheumatoid arthritis, thyroiditis, systemic lupus erythematosus, and inflammatory bowel disease
  • Help treat psoriasis, eczema, acne, and other skin conditions

Too much sunlight, however, can become dangerous. For example, ultraviolet (UV) rays can penetrate the skin, damage cell DNA, and cause skin cancer. People with fair skin are also more prone to sunburn.

However, it’s important to get sunlight in moderation. You’re most likely to get a sunburn when the sun’s rays are more direct (between 10 a.m. and 4 p.m.).

You can find out how to protect your child from the sun’s harmful UV rays before your beach trip.

  1. Take Toys

Keep your kids occupied during your trip to the beach by adding toys to your beach trip packing list. Toys give your kids something to do besides playing on the water.

For example, you can bring a bucket and shovel to help them play in the sand. Show your kids how to build a sandcastle or moat. You can also bring toy cars and build a makeshift race track.

If your kid doesn’t like playing in the sand, consider bringing active toys. For example, you can bring a frisbee and help them perfect their toss.

If the day promises wind, consider bringing a kite.

  1. Create a Treasure Hunt

If you’re looking for activities to do with your kids at the beach, try planning a treasure hunt. Create a list of items your child can find while you’re at the beach. Bring a bag or jar that they can save their treasures in.

You can also have a contest to see who can find the most seashells.

Don’t forget to teach your kids about endangered plants. There are some plants, shells, and animals they shouldn’t disturb or try to collect.

  1. Stay Hydrated

It’s important that every member of your family remains hydrated while you’re out in the sun. In general, teens and kids should drink between six and eight cups of water a day. If you’re out in the sun for long periods of time, however, you might want to drink more.

Make sure to add water bottles to your beach vacation packing list.

Otherwise, running around in the sun can dehydrate your kids and make them cranky.

  1. Pack a Snack

Don’t forget to pack snacks, too. Consider taking watermelon (which helps everyone stay hydrated), grapes, or cucumbers.

Think about foods that are easy for your kids to eat. If your children are younger, consider cutting up larger foods before you head to the beach. Remember, planning ahead of time can help simplify the trip.

  1. Apply and Reapply

Make sure to apply a healthy layer of sunscreen on everyone’s skin once you arrive at the beach. Make sure there’s a bottle of sunscreen on your list of things to bring to the beach. You’ll need to reapply sunscreen every hour.

If your kids are spending a lot of time in and out of the water, you might want to reapply more often.

  1. Utilize Bribes

Are your kids refusing to wear a hat or sunscreen? Use a bribe!

Tell them you’ll stop at a shaved-ice cart or get ice cream to encourage them to behave.

  1. Remain Flexible

During your family trip to the beach, try to remain flexible and patient.

Some trips can last an hour, while others will stretch to five. Try not to force your kids to stay if they’re not having fun.

Remaining flexible will help you stay sane.

  1. Focus on the Fun

Above all else, focus on having fun.

Summer is the best time to hang out at the beach. You won’t have to rush to get home or stick to a schedule. Instead, relax and enjoy the day!

Remember, you’re building memories! Don’t forget to take plenty of pictures while you’re there, too.
